Capstar Oral Flea Treatment for Small Dogs and Cats
Capstar is an oral flea treatment for small dogs and cats weighing up to 11 kg (25 lbs). The active ingredient is nitenpyram. The tablet begins killing adult fleas within 30 minutes of administration. Dead fleas may be observed on the coat within hours of dosing, indicating the product is working.
The tablet is palatable and can be given with or without food. Capstar is formulated for small dogs and cats and is approved for use in dogs and puppies weighing 2 lbs or more and at least 4 weeks old, per label guidelines. Capstar addresses active adult fleas on the animal at the time of dosing. It does not provide ongoing environmental flea control and should be used as part of a broader flea management plan that includes regular cleaning and ongoing preventive strategies to reduce re-infestation.
